The Dish: Crab Cake Sandwich with Sweet Corn Relish and Smoked Paprika Aioli. ($14)
How's It Taste?: A nice take on a summertime staple. The crab cake had the perfect brown, crispy crunch on the outside and was wonderfully smooth and soft on the inside. The patty contained a good amount of crabmeat in addition to breading and spices. The cake itself could have used more depth of flavor, but the toppings certainly compensated for that and added to the overall appeal of the dish.
What’s Inside?: The cake sits on a sesame seed bun with iceberg lettuce, tomato and lemon wedge on the side and is topped with sweet corn relish and smoked paprika aioli. The interplay between the toppings and the cake itself is what really makes this dish special. The relish is fresh, sweet and crisp, pairing perfectly with the richness of the aioli. The aioli is on the spicy side, which couples well with the sweetness of the crab and corn relish.
Sides: The sandwich is served with a heaping portion of French fries that were well seasoned and had just the right crispness. Pair it with their signature Montauk Light beer you will certainly enjoy this lovely and original interpretation on a classic dish.
