Try the Chicken Enchiladas a la Mexicana at Hampton Coffee Company

Hampton Coffee Company is not just another coffee place.

Since 1994, independently owned and the largest coffee roaster and retailer on Long Island, is more than an espresso bar and take-out place; it is one of the best landmark cafés in Water Mill and Westhampton, and a must-stop for locals, tourists and celebrities alike.

The business is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of and Theresa Belkin. Hampton Coffee Company offers more than 24 blends and varietals of coffee plus more than 12 flavors, such as chocolate cherry kiss, which was their flavor of the month for February in honor of Valentine's Day.

Hampton Coffee Company opens every day at 5:30 a.m. for take-out. At 7 a.m., the café opens. The business is closed only two days a year, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Breakfast is served all day long.

Hampton Coffee Company offers an extensive menu including Mexican grill, gourmet burgers, home-made soups, salads and sandwiches. It is a great place to share a meal so you can sample a variety of tastes.

The Dish: Chicken enchiladas a la Mexicana ($15.95)

What's Inside: Three warm corn tortillas filled with seasoned pulled chicken and topped with homemade fire-grilled salsa rojo, melted mozzarella cheese, sour cream, sliced radishes and red onions. The dish includes house-made Spanish rice and black beans.

How's It Taste? The flavors are bright and very fresh, with a slight bite to it. Chicken was fork-tender and juicy. It was seasoned perfectly, with just the right amount of melted cheese on top.

Starter or Side: Tequila shrimp nachos ($10.95) is a house specialty and great for sharing. Warm homemade tortilla chips topped with melted pepper jack cheese and diced tomatoes, jalapenos, and bite-sized pieces of fresh shrimp, all sautéed in Tequila.

Dessert: The brownie sundae ($6.95) is a warm brownie topped with homemade vanilla gelato and drizzled with caramel and chocolate sauce. It melts in your mouth. If you want to save the calories, share this dish.
