Times Square Ad Will Feature Coopers Beach

Video ad promoting Hamptons tourism will appear for one week in April.

The Hamptons Visitors Council is targeting travelers with a new ad that will appear for a week at the "Crossroads of the World" — Times Square.

The video ad is a five-second spot that will run 15 times a day on the ABC 7 video screen, according to the HVC. The simple ad will feature a couple on the beach with a straight-to-the-point caption: "The Hamptons. #1 Beach in America. Just 2 Hours Away."

It is scheduled for the week of April 11 to 17.

The aforementioned beach is none other than Southampton Village's , which in 2010 was named the "Best Beach in America" by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, a coastal scientist also known as "Dr. Beach."

HVC Chairman Hank Beck announced the ad campaign at the Feb. 16 meeting of the Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce. HVC struck the deal with Horizon Publications. It also includes a four-color double-page spread in the spring issue of Horizon Travel Magazine, which will be inserted in 100,000 copies of the New York Post, and a banner ad on the magazine's website.

"The major purpose of this project is to help drive new visitors to the Hamptons region and to promote Suffolk County as a year-round vacation destination," an HVC press release reads.

"Advertising the world's greatest beaches in the world's greatest city is a no-brainer," Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy was quoted as saying in the release. "The Hamptons Visitors Council have cast a wide and innovative advertising net with this initiative that is sure to draw many more world travelers to the unmatched beauty of Suffolk's East End."

The ad will also display the HVC website URL and a toll-free number. The HVC includes the Eastport, Greater Westhampton, East Quogue, Hampton Bays and Sag Harbor chambers of commerce.
