St. Patrick's Day: Corned Beef 'Molly McGrath' Sandwich

Girl's idea wins sandwich of the week contest at Hampton Seafood Company.

Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, Hampton Seafood Company's sandwich of the week will make your mouth water whether you are Irish or not.

Molly Mamay's Corned Beef "Molly McGrath" sandwich is made of oven baked corned beef, pickled carrots and onions, melted Irish cheddar, salt and vinegar chips, and dijonnaise on a roll.

Molly's mom, Laurie Trujullio-Mamay, a chef, who has a mobile food van called Hamptons Foodie that stations at Sagg Main Beach, helped her come up with the ingredients.

Peter Ambrose, the owner of Hampton Seafood Company, said that since the seafood shop opened a year ago, it has established itself as "a real Foodie destination for all walks of diets."

A Facebook group called Bonac Eats inspired him to run a contest where he gave everyone an ingredient and see what they created. "The response was great so I thought, 'OK, I can do this weekly, monthly and even as yearly recipe contest.'" He said, "It's an honor and privilege to have folks come in and spend and shop at our store so we want to show our appreciation and connection with our customers."

Ambrose said customers should continue to look for the weekly ingredient. The selected sandwich will be on special for the rest of that week. "Hopefully this evolves into sandwich of the month, year, and perhaps eventually our sandwich board is filled with all our contest winners on a daily basis."
