Southampton Pop-Up Is Precursor to SoHo Flagship

Stephanie von Watzdorf's Figue comes to the Hamptons for the summer.

Figue, a new bohemian-inspired clothing and accessories line for women, has popped up on Jobs Lane for a summer stay.

The store, which opened Saturday, is Figue's first, though the brand has been carried by other retailers since its debut last year. The Figure flagship will open in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood in the fall.

Pronounced "fig," the luxury brand is named for the fruit, using the French spelling. It was conceived by Stephanie von Watzdorf, a designer who has worked for Giorgio Armani, Ann Taylor, Ralph Lauren, and most recently Tory Burch. She is a Parsons School of Design grad and she interned out of school for Yves Saint Laurent in Paris.

Von Watzdorf was born in Paris and split her time between New York and Europe growing up. Figue is inspired by her travels and the gypsy lifestyle, according to the brand's website, figue.com. Figue includes her original designs plus found items, including vintage military jackets from the U.S. and elsewhere with added unique embellishments.

She also aims to help charities with her brand.  Bags, iPad cases and other items featuring an elephant with wings support Indian elephants, and the sale of hand-made bracelets helps victims of human trafficking.
