New Blue Duck Bakery Opens In Greenport This Week

Festivities and free samples are planned for the celebration.

The newest Blue Duck Bakery location will open this week in Greenport on Front Street — with a public celebration and a visit from the Blue Duck himself.

According to Nancy Kouris, who owns the Blue Duck Bakery locations with her husband Keith, the grand opening of the fourth location, at 130 Front Street in Greenport, will take place from Thursday through Sunday.

To kick off the festivities, a ribbon-cutting will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. The new bakery will have samples of baked goods and artisan breads, as well as soups and sandwiches throughout the whole celebration.

In addition, the Blue Duck will pay the new bakery a visit Thursday morning and Unity will play hits form the 60s, 70s, and 80s on Friday from 7 p.m. through 10 p.m. A contest to win a Kitchen Aid mixer will be held.

The Blue Duck Bakery Café was born in Southampton in 1999 when the couple aimed to bring an old-fashioned bakery to the village.

The bakery expanded in 2008, opening its doors on Route 25 in Southold, and, last fall, celebrated a third location in downtown Riverhead.
