Long Island Wine Council Utilizes Social Media To Reach Grape Lovers

A new contest has been unveiled on Facebook.

The Long Island Wine Council is tapping into social media to reach out to a grape-loving audience with new contests, promotions and events.

Most recently, the Long Island Wine Council launched a spring Facebook contest asking fans to guess what day they believe the first buds will appear in the East End region’s vines.

“Bud Break” mark a critical time in wine region as it heralds the start of the year’s vintage, Long Island Wine Council representatives stated.

Fans who guess the correct date can qualify to win a free tasting for two at one of the Wine Council’s member wineries.

The contest question went live on March 20, and will run through April 20 or “Bud Break,” whichever comes first.

The Long Island Wine Country Facebook page has already received a number of contest entries from both existing and new fans, contest organizers said Monday.

The plan is to continue with similar Facebook contests throughout the year.
