Free Swag Alert: Firm Giving out 'Hampton Gift Bags'

The bags, which are free in exchange for contact information, can be picked up at local galleries and shops.

You don't have to be invited to the Hamptons' swankiest parties or drop hundreds of dollars on a benefit to go home with a gift bag this holiday weekend.

In exchange for your name, e-mail and phone number, Madison & Mulholland is offering free gift bags on Fourth of July weekend full of goodies from Hamptons and national businesses.

Madison & Mulholland, a firm that specializes in making gift bags for upscale events, discloses that the contact information will be shared with “platinum-level” sponsors of the bags, which the firm says are valued at about $600 in gifts and services and geared toward women.

Only 500 gift bags are being given out, and more than 300 have already been claimed, said Jane Ubell-Meyer, the founder and president of Madison & Mulholland.

Ubell-Meyer said that everyone who gives their contact information in exchange for a bag is guaranteed to receive one. Once all of the bags have been reserved, the website, www.hamptongiftbags.com, will no longer accept requests.

Companies may e-mail or text message bag recipients with offers;  Ubell said it is a fair exchange for the valuable bags.

Goodies and services that come with the bags include hair care products, cosmetics, lip balm, motel gift cards, theater gift cards, a sleeping mask and pillow, reading glasses, “The Summer We Read Gatsby” book,  an I Love NY “Ecobag” tote, refrigerator magnets, a portrait photography gift card, an injectable cosmetic treatment gift card, and more.

Pick up locations include in Sag Harbor, Calico Gardens in East Quogue, in East Hampton and Lucille Khornak galleries in Bridgehampton and Southampton. Bags must be reserved and recipients must present their ID when they receive their bags, Ubell-Meyer said. Bags can also be shipped for a fee.

Swankier gift bags are available as well for $40 or $80, with most of the proceeds benefiting the Noreen Fraser Foundation.

Ubell-Meyer said Fraser is a friend who has been living with with stage-IV breast cancer for more than 10 years. Her foundation raises money and awareness for cancer and cancer research.
