Former Saks Still Needs a Tenant [Empty in Southampton]

What business would you like to see move into 1 Hampton Road?

The Saks Fifth Avenue store in Southampton Village closed in October 2010 citing sluggish sales, and the building has remained vacant since.

But before it was Saks, 1 Hampton Road was Southampton Town Hall. The words "Southampton Town Hall" can still be read across the top of the two-story pillared building, and the remnants of "Saks Fifth Avenue" are visible as well.

Corrected: relocated to the former Southampton Intermediate School at 116 Hampton Road, which was Southampton High School before that.

On the northeast corner of Main Street and Hampton Road, the former Saks is listed with CBRE, a Los Angeles-based real estate firm said to be the biggest in the world. It is available for lease for retail uses; it is not for sale.

According to a Hamptons.com report, the building is 15,000 square feet.
