This year he will be honored with the Laura Goodale award which was established in 1986 by lifelong ELIH supporter Carl E. Vail, Sr. and the Southold-Greenport Rotary. The award is given in the spirit of Laura Goodale, a former ELIH nurse with a 42-year service record that was so extraordinary, it won her recognition as the ‘Florence Nightingale’ of the North Fork.
“John is a valued member of the surgical team and highly respected by his peers,” stated D. Patricia Pispisa, Vice President Patient Care Services. “John’s ability to put patients at ease and nursing anesthetist skills are exemplary. He is always focused on patient comfort and maximum safety. In a surgical setting, these two factors are paramount for optimal outcomes.”
