Bliss Sleep Center Brings Organic Options to Water Mill Bedrooms

Beth Lee Schlendorf, the owner of Water Mill’s Bliss Sleep Center, has been bringing local residents the most extensive selection of organic mattresses and bedding on the East End for the past two months.

Located on Hayground Road just off Montauk Highway, Bliss Sleep Center is the convergence of two currents in Schlendorf’s life — her desire to open her own business and her quest to provide the best, healthiest home products for her family.

“It all started when I bought a memory foam mattress,” Schlendorf said, “You could smell the chemicals on it. The instructions say to let it air out for 24 to 48 hours, so I decided to look into why.”

HOT'auk Yoga Brings The Heat To Montauk

Hamptons Hot Yoga, based in Bridgehampton, has opened a new studio in Montauk — HOT'auk Yoga at 649 Montauk Highway.

Owner and yoga instructor Lienette Crafoord, who has been practicing yoga in one form or another for over 20 years, first came into her dominant school of practice after feeling its healing benefits first hand.

Having strained a hip flexor muscle while training for her first marathon, Crafoord attended Bikram yoga session seeking relief. Bikram — a style developed by Yogi Bikram Choudhury in the 1970s — is practiced in over 100-degree heat and 40 percent humidity. Unlike some other styles of yoga that deal with vigorous movement, Bikram is slower and steadier, moving through 26 poses in a 90-minute period. According to Crafoord, the style emphasizes “strength and flexibility, which creates balance.”

Friends Hope to Make Noise With New Burger Joint

BOOM!

A pair of Anthony’s are hoping locals – and non-locals alike – take a loud bite out of their new burger joint this season, as Boom Burgers rolls into its first summer on Montauk Highway in Westhampton Beach after opening its doors last fall.

Since the new business, owned by friends Anthony Catanzaro and Anthony Cicogna, opened last October, the duo have been creating burger combos weekly to surprise their customers – who are encouraged to give a loud “BOOM” when they walk through the doors, sometimes leading to free food.

Love Lane Market Re-Opens

After closing its doors in the wake of Superstorm Sandy due to heavy damage to its HVAC system, Love Lane Market re-opened on July 4, slowly starting to offer some pizzas and meats for the holiday weekend.

In the eight months the market has been closed, Ridge native and current North Fork resident George Caso has stepped in as business partner for Mike and Patty Avella, founders of Love Lane Market and Love Lane Kitchen. The Avellas sold LLK to general manager Carolyn Iannone last August, and while Keith Luce had considered opening a meat curing house at the Love Lane Marketlocation, he opted for Greenport instead.
