4 Places Where You Can Still Get a Live Turkey on Long Island

As Thanksgiving quickly approaches, live poultry farms are quickly selling out of turkey.

While most are used to heading to the supermarket before Thanksgiving to select a perfectly-sized frozen turkey, others make it a tradition to purchase a live turkey. 

Across Long Island, there are several poultry farms that offer freshly-killed turkeys during the holidays, but as Thanksgiving quickly approaches many are reporting that they are already sold out: It seems live turkey's are extremely popular this year.

The following is a round-up of poultry farms that still have fresh turkey available:

Miloski's Poultry Farm
The 67-year-old Miloski's Poultry Farm, located at 4418 Middle Country Road in Calverton has birds in a variety of sizes this Thanksgiving. The birds are $4.55 per pound, 10-30 lbs. and can be purchased every day this week from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. The business only accepts cash for bird purchases. To place an order, call 631-727-0239.

Raleigh's Poultry Farm
Raleigh's Poultry Farm, located at 335 Old Indian Head Road in Kings Park, has turkeys in the 12- to 14-pound range and a few left in the 20- to 22-pound range. The price is $4.25 per pound. Call 631-269-4428 to order. 

Makinajian Poultry Farm & Country Store
Makinaijan Poultry Farm & Country Store, located at 276 Cuba Hill Road in Huntington, has several birds available, but only in the 22-pound range. The price is $4.29 per pound. To order, call 631-368-9320.

Hempstead Poultry Farms
Hempstead Poultry Farms, located at 39 Newmans Court, has two varieties of turkey in a number of sizes available, white and black. White turkey runs for $2.50 a pound and black at $3.50 a pound. To place an order, call 516-485-6569.
