10 Ways To Catch the Holiday Spirit

Feeling all shopped out already? Try these ideas to regain your holiday sparkle.

Who says the holidays have to be "humbug?" There are plenty of little ways to take a breather and get refreshed for another round of gift hunting, holiday meal planning and decorating. One of these ideas should get your sleigh headed back in the right direction.

1. Make a donation. Lending a helping hand is one sure way to pull yourself out of the holiday doldrums. Local charities are especially in need at this time of year. If you couldn't make it to their on Dec. 11, contact to make your donation and help stock the food pantry in time for Christmas.

2. Remember the Sugar Plum fairy, Clara, the Mouse King? The holiday classic, "" is showing this season as part of the 's series of Ballet in Cinema. 3. The smell of homemade gingerbread. Now that says "Christmas." No time to bake? Grab a gingerbread donut or muffin, pair it with a gingerbread latte at and get back in the holiday running.

4. Catch a movie. Whether you like to laugh out loud, get spooked by Harry Potter's latest adventures or prefer another genre, check the latest screenings at on Hill Street, buy your ticket, sit back and enjoy.

5. Treat yourself to a haircut, massage or manicure and why not pick up a gift certificate for your best friend at the same time? Call to make an appointment.

6. Pick up a holiday book at . Then step a few doors down, order a coffee at , crack open the book and escape for a few minutes.

7. Take a stroll on the beach. The beach in winter can be amazing with enough white sand, winds and waves to sweep you right back into the holiday spirit.
