10 Places to Propose on Valentine's Day

The East End has many romantic spots to choose from, and unconventional ones as well.

You've picked out the ring, got up your nerve and you've found the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. The hard part is over. Now you just have to decide where to pop the question. Here are a few light-hearted suggestions to help you out:

1. The most obvious of course is over a romantic dinner. Why not go to Pierre's in Bridgehampton? It's French, cozy and they have a $55 prix fixe for Valentine's Day. So you've finished eating, you're both sipping wine. You ask — the answer is "Yes!" Get the waiter to bring over a bottle of champagne and celebrate.

2. Maybe you both love the outdoors, traveling and the feel of the open water. Step aboard the . Ask the question on the way over — a memorable way to start your journey together. It may be a little chilly, but all the more reason to cuddle up together on the way back.

3. If you tend more to the "My Funny Valentine" type and are willing to risk some silly moments as you slip and slide together, why not try the ice skating rink in East Hampton? Or perhaps you are both aces at ice skating — what a smooth way to start your future together.

4. Come to the heart of Southampton Village. Picturesque is the quintessential spot to get to the heart of the matter and ask the most important question of your life.

5. Nothing brings life into perspective like the vista of the open water and the perched on the very edge of the Island.  You're embarking on a real adventure together — make the proposal one to remember.

6. Ah, tradition. Take the into Manhattan and ask the million-dollar question on top of the Empire State Building, in the middle of Times Square or in a horse-drawn carriage in Central Park. Imagine the memories — light snow falling, a truly magic moment.
