National Head Start Awareness Month!

Bridgehampton Head Start is starting off the month with celebrations in honor of National Head Start Awareness Month and National Farm to School Month.

October Is National Head Start Awareness month and Bridgehampton Head Start is taking a lesson from Horton Hears a Who, making sure our voices are heard.  “Because a person’s a person no matter how small” and our 52 small voices here at Bridgehampton Head Start have lots to ‘Yop’ about.  So, we have two representatives heading to the Long Island Head Start Legislative Luncheon this Thursday October 4th.   Not only will those representatives  be celebrating, Long Island Head Start’s, our parent agency, 46th year of serving the children and families of the communities of Suffolk county; but will also have the opportunity to talk face to face with local elected officials and community agencies on ways to help each other, help our communities.

Tying in National Head Start Awareness month with National Farm to School month, Bridgehampton Head Start classrooms are doing units on Pumpkins and Apples.  Any local farm Stands that would like to donate some apples for our the ‘star in the apple’ experiment or Pumpkins for ‘parts of the pumpkin’ experiment- AKA  “eeewww, my fingers feel yucky”- please feel free to contact our center.  Starting this Wednesday and every Wednesday this month, we will be having ‘Dad’s bring your child to school day’, where are dad’s can participate in morning activities, share some breakfast, or just relax with their child, before starting their work day, reading a good book, like Horton hears a Who, just saying.
