East End Tick & Mosquito Control Supports Sustainability with Solar Panel Installation

East End Tick & Mosquito has gone green! We now have solar roofing at our headquarters in an effort to create a healthy environment for our employees, reduce unnecessary waste and recognize the role small businesses play in leading ways for social change.

It’s a no-brainer decision for us. We’re eliminating 194 tons of carbon emissions released in the Southampton community, where not only my business, but also my family, resides. At the same time, we’re saving money on our electric bill. It’s a win-win situation.

Our 12-kilowatt electric system, commonly called a Photovoltaic system, is an array of 48 solar panels, which produces 14,000 kilowatts a year. Heading up the three-day-long project was Brian Tymann, owner of BGT Consulting, LLC (http://www.bgtconsultingllc.com/) in Westhampton.

We are projected to have an annual savings of $3,500. The upfront cost of solar installation varies on a system’s size. However, small businesses can receive federal and state tax and rebate credits to offset initial fees.

We are one of many businesses to join the "go green" movement. According to Office Depot’s Small Business Index study, 61 percent of small businesses are actively trying to go green and 70 percent anticipate doing so in the next two years.
