Peter Marcelle Gallery Shows Film Fest Retrospective

Twenty years of Hampton International Film festival poster art on display in Bridgehampton.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Hamptons International Film Festival, the Peter Marcelle Gallery in Bridgehampton has each year's promotional poster art on display through Sunday.

The retrospective includes works by Cindy Sherman, Donald Sultan, Julian Schnabel, Barbara Kruger, Dan Rizzie, Jim Gingerich, David Salle and Billy Sullivan, among others.

Many of the commissioned artists over the years have been local to the Hamptons, the festival notes. "These posters have showcased the conventions and clichés of the film poster form, using the interplay between art and film to extraordinary effect."
