Music to Fill Sag Harbor Streets This Weekend

Get the Sag Harbor American Music Festival schedule.

The second annual Sag Harbor American Music Festival, celebrating Sag Harbor Village and the sounds of jazz, blues, roots, folk and more, is happening this Friday and Saturday, all over the village.

The festival kicks of Friday night with a benefit concert from 8 to 10 at Old Whalers Church for $20.

Grammy Award-winning blues, folk and rock artist John Hammond will perform.

"Hammond played a critical role in the blues renaissance of the mid-1960s and has shared the stage and/or recorded with many of the masters, including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Duane Allman, Mike Bloomfield, JJ Cale, Tom Waits, The Band, John Lee Hooker, Dr. John and many more," event organizers said.

Then a day of free music begins Saturday at 11 a.m. with Escola De Samba BOOM at the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce Windmill, sponsored by the YMCA East Hampton RECenter.

At noon, there will be a welcome in front of Bay Street Theater, which is where the official afterparty will be at 9 p.m. for $10 per ticket, featuring Gene Casey & The Lone Sharks, and Mary McBride Band. Tickets will be on sale all day Saturday at the Bay Street box office.

From 12:30 to 9 p.m., catch the Who Dat Loungers, Alfredo Merat, Jim Campagnola Jazz, The Buzzards, Astrograss, Dan Bailey Tribe, Richie Siegler Quartet, Caroline Doctorow & The Steamrollers, Sag Harbor Community Band, Sara Hartmanm Mariann Megna, Nancy Steams, The Montauk Project, Joe Delia & Thieves, Hopefully Forgiven, Robert Bruey, Rocket and the Ghost and Cassandra House at various locations.

Venues include GeekHampton, BookHampton, Sag Harbor Florist, Bay Burger, Muse in the Harbor, Romany Kramoris Gallery, La Superica, The Hampton Studio of Fine Art, Grenning Gallery, The American Legion, The Whaling Museum, Life Style, Old Whalers Church, Suffolk County National Bank, LT Burger, Dodds & Eder, and Phao.

Puppets of the High Seas will put on musical puppet theater for kids at Goat on a Boat from 1 to 2 p.m.
