On Tuesday night, more than 200 friends and well-wishers turned up at the Stephen Talkhouse for a benefit for Michael Farrell, a beloved former bartender, and his wife Sharon Losee. Farrell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2008 and has cancer. His wife has had to stop working to care for him. Their situation has become truly difficult, and a dedicated group of friends organized a line-up of local performers and food to raise money for them.
Every dollar raised will go to Farrell and his wife. Donations are still being accepted online through Paddlers for Humanity .
John Kowalenko, Art of Eating and Simon Sheridan of Exquisite Food organized a delicious buffet dinner of food donated by Fresh Hamptons Restaurant, the Meeting House restaurant, Indian Wells restaurant, Marty’s Deli, Dave’s Grill, Robert’s Restaurant, Bo Parsons Baker, The Seafood Shop, Stewart's Seafood, Exquisite Food and Debbie Gephart Catering.
Among the performers who rocked the house were local favorite Nancy Atlas, Inda Eaton, Klyph Black, and Lynn Blumenfeld. Blumenfeld, who also spearheaded the efforts to organize the benefit, said, “It’s as simple as that—the East End community coming together to make a difference for two valued members in need.”
