Hamptons International Film Festival Picks Win Big at Golden Globes

Paul Giamatti, Natalie Portman and Colin Firth take top honors for acting.

Actors from three movies that were screened at the 2010 Hamptons International Film Festival back in October took home Golden Globes Sunday at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association awards ceremony in Beverly Hills.

Paul Giamatti, the star of the festival's opening night film, "Barney's Version," won Best Actor - Comedy or Musical.

"Barney's Version," directed by Richard J. Lewis, had its U.S. premiere at . It follows the life and three marriages of Barney Panofsky, a Jewish television producer who may or may not have murdered his best friend (Scott Speedman). Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver and Rachelle Lefevre played his three wives, and Dustin Hoffman played his father.

Giamatti was at the festival himself and took questions for the audience following the premiere. Hamptons residents Christie Brinkley and Alec Baldwin, among other celebrities, attended the premiere.

Natalie Portman won Best Actress - Drama, for the lead role in "Black Swan," the festival's closing night film at the movie theater.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky, the film is a psychological thriller about the psyche of a New York City ballet dancer wrapped up in competition.

Colin Firth, as Prince Albert in "The King's Speech," won Best Actor -Drama.

"The King's Speech," which kicked off festival screenings at the theater, is about a future king's struggle with a stutter and his relationship with his speech therapist.

The festival also included an "animation master class" with "Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson at Guild Hall.

"Toy Story 3" won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film on Sunday.
