Great Escape: Have a Movie and Munchies Afternoon

It's time for your Great Escape, whether it's on your own, with your significant other, or with a few of your equally-stressed pals. Check back here each week, as we'll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break.

With many of the region's schools on mid-winter recess, you might think it impossible to get a little "me" time for yourself this week.

But if you can find just a couple of hours on Friday afternoon, you can spend a little time observing the life of a fictional family halfway across the country from here, namely the Youngers of southside Chicago, the subjects of the 2008 film adaptation of the Lorraine Hansberry play, "A Raisin in the Sun."

Starring Phylicia Rashad and Hamptons resident Sean "Diddy" Combs, the Youngers try to find their way to a better life and out of their rundown neighborhood, even as they're surrounded by racism and poverty. It's both a culturally-significant film, and a thoughtful story.
