'Godspell' Comes To Southampton Presbyterian Church for 2 Weeks

The musical will be performed by the Our Fabulous Variety Show players starting Friday at 7:30 p.m.

"Godspell," the 1971 hit Broadway musical, is coming to Southampton this Friday.

A modern day retelling of the parables from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, "Godspell" will be performed by the Our Fabulous Variety Show Players. The cast of characters often uses their own names as they help explain the audience the teachings of Jesus. Notable songs include ‘Day by Day,’ ‘Turn Back, O Man,’ and ‘All for the Best.’

The musical will be performed at the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton, at 2 South Main St. Show times include Friday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, July 21 at 1 p.m.; Friday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. All tickets will cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

OFVS consists of an evolving troupe, that consistently raises money for local charities. Founded in 2010 by directors Boyer and Kasia Klimiuk, they held their first performance at the Southampton Cultural Center in October of that year to raise funds for Chron’s and Colitis disease in conjunction with the Las Vegas Half Marathon they were both running. Since that time, the OFVS has performed at the SCC, The Bridgehampton Community House, and at Guild Hall this June.
