Author Reading and Discussion: Wafa Faith Hallam

Wafa Faith Hallam was born and raised in Morocco, lived in Europe and traveled through more than 35 countries before settling in Sag Harbor. Her memoir, The Road From Morocco, tells the story of her mother, Saadia, an unwilling thirteen-year-old bride in a country divided between French and Arab traditional cultures. As a Moroccan who also holds a Masters Degree in International Relations and Middle Eastern Studies, Ms. Hallam is knowledgeable about the current political upheaval in North Africa and the Middle East. Audiences find that she is able to explain these events and inform her listeners in a more personal way than the news media can. Join us for a reading and questions as Hallam discusses her book, which is both deeply personal and globally relevant. Advance registration recommended. Call 725-0049.

“I honestly cannot recall a time when an autobiographical account has spoken to me as forcefully as  Hallam’s memoir.” – Prof. Anouar Majid, University of New England
