Today is Earth Day, East End

Earth Day turns 44 this year. Since 1970, April 22nd has been designated as a day to appreciate—and clean up—the planet on which we live. According to Earth Day: The History, “The idea came to Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California.”

Celebrate Earth Day with these great Instagram photos that showcase the incredible and varied beauty of the East End. Then, get out there and enjoy it. And, if you’re moved, join Southampton Town’s 2014 Great East End Clean-Up this Saturday and Sunday. You can find the details here.
