Alexandra Styron's Talk Canceled Due to Weather Forecast

Styron's visit expected t be rescheduled to the fall Writers Speak series at Stony Brook Southampton.

Author Alexandra Styron's planned visit to Stony Brook Southampton on Wednesday — part of the MFA in Creative Writing & Literature Program's Writer's Speak series — has been canceled.

With the weather forecast calling for rain and snow Wednesday evening, the decision was made to call off the event. The college anticipates that Styron will be brought back in the fall.

Styron wrote the novel "All the Finest Girls," and, more recently, her memoir "Reading My Father."

She is the daughter of “Sophie’s Choice” writer William Styron. She called "Reading My Father" a hybrid biography-memoir. The book is about an American artist and his life, as well as the challenges of being raised by someone who is passionately devoted to his art above all else, Styron said.
