Whiz Kid: Teen Actor Has It All Figured Out

At 15, Dylan Blue already made an appearance in a few movies and television shows, plus he's more than ready to break into the music production business.

Name, age: Dylan Blue, 15

School:

Achievement: Dylan had a role in the film Deck The Halls with Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick and has appeared on television shows such as Big Lake and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Key to Awesomeness: Dylan balances his acting career while still having an active role as a high school student.

Dylan’s most recent role was on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a witness in a case. He appeared most recently on a series called Big Lake as Jeremy Franklin and many people know him for his role as Carter Finch in Deck The Halls.

He spends his free time, and some of his school time, going to auditions in New York and for a 15 year-old actor has a standout resume.

“It actually takes up a lot of my time during the school year, but I try not too miss school that much,” he said.

Dylan even tries to take part in extracurricular activities. He plays on the varsity tennis team but said he missed about three matches this year because of acting and auditions.

New York State has standards for attending school and pursuing an acting career at a young age. Dylan said his parents set the bar higher and he ends up staying way above the standard.

“I would love to act for the rest of my life but I know it’s a fantasy world and I want to live reality,” he said.

Dylan said he’s tried to participate in school musicals but it’s a different realm, needing to be on point the whole time — “I sing in the shower but I don’t think I can sing on Broadway.”

Dylan loves music and could see himself in production. He said he would love to go to a great communications college. This summer or the next he would like to get an internship working for a record label in New York City.

As of now, he spends his Saturdays working at the radio stations and . He said he adds new songs to the playlist when they come in and he edits songs to make them radio friendly. He got to be on air one, but he said he enjoys “more of the behind the scenes work.”

It seems like at 15 he’s got it all figured out, and he says he got that from his parents. "They help me do everything," he said. "I don’t think I’m missing much."
