2.  Ice Skating Rink Glides into Southampton Next Month

Southampton will soon have its own skating rink just in time to break up the doldrums of winter. Will Hansen, whose family has owned Southampton Golf Range since 1957 and has always had a love for ice skating, said a rink will open on the 13-acre property around Thanksgiving. The outdoor rink will offer lessons, hockey, and open skating from November to March. 

3. Continued Shutdown Could Shutter Shinnecock Day Care

A continued federal government shutdown could mean that the Shinnecock Early Learning Day Care Center could have to shut its doors. "A continued shutdown could force the day care center to close and hinder other operations at the Shinnecock Reservation," Congressman Tim Bishop said Friday.

4. Muse Chef Buys Sag Harbor Restaurant Building

Matt Guiffrida and his investment partners Gene Cattarina, Mario Gati, Harvey Krasner, and Carmine Rubino purchased 16 Main St., on the corner of Long Island Avenue, in Sag Harbor Village. The $2.125 million deal closed last week, according to Anthony C. Cerio, a broker with Brown Harris Stevens who sold it with his partner Mitchel L. Natter. The building was originally listed for $2.9 million. 

5. Sound Off: Filling Old Banana Republic Space

Banana Republic in the Bridgehampton Commons closed last month after 21 yeas in Bridgehampton. The windows have been covered with brown paper, and there's a rumor that a pet supplies store will fill the vacancy, but Kimco Realty, which manages the Commons, won't comment just yet on whether that's true.
