1. County to Madonna: Stop Cutting Through Preserved Land

Wild Horses Farms, LLC — which owns Madonna's property at 10 Mitchell's Lane — and Farrell Building Company were ordered to stop using the property as a "thoroughfare for vehicular access not related to agricultural production," according to letters from Sarah Lansdale, the director of planning and environment, on Aug. 22. 

2. Hampton Coffee Company Delivers Caffeine Fix for Stony Brook Students

Hand-roasted, artisan coffee is now being offered to students at Stony Brook University, where The Hampton Coffee Corner Café recently opened in the campus' new dining hall. 

3. NOAA Highlights Storm Wrath 75 Years After ‘Long Island Express'

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has launched a website to mark the 75th anniversary on Sunday of the Hurricane of 1938, “one of the most destructive and powerful hurricanes in recorded history,” the weather organization said.

4. Sagaponack Will Stick With Southampton Town Cops

The Sagaponack Village Board decided on Monday to keep the Southampton Town Police Department as its police agency thanks to a new agreement reached with the town, 27East reported.

5. Conservative Party Supervisor Candidate Abandons Ballot Challenge

The Conservative Party leader's choice for Southampton Supervisor Phil Keith has withdrawn his challenges to ballots cast in a Sept. 10 write-in primary race against former Southampton Supervisor Linda Kabot.
