Town Police Log: DWI, Resisting Arrest and a Bench Warrant

Police say 20-year-old man resisted arrest when stopped for possession of marijuana.

DWI

Ryan V. Marin, 20, Westhampton Beach was arrested Thursday at about 12:46 a.m. on North Highway and Hill Station Road in Southampton and charged with DWI.  According to police, Marin was observed speeding in his 1997 Ford. After he was stopped, officers found that Martin was intoxicated and had a small quantity of marijuana on him, police said. When he was placed under arrest, Marin became combative, police said. Marin was charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, as well as several vehicle and traffic infractions.

DWAI

Jony F. Gonzalez, 25, of Hampton Bays was arrested on North Main Street in Southampton on Friday at about 9:30 a.m. and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs.  According to police, Gonzalez was stopped for an equipment violation and found to be in possession of and under the influence of marijuana. He was additionally charged with unlawful possession of marihuana, a violation.

Bench Warrant

Vincente N. Procel, 29, of Bridgehampton was arrested Wednesday at his Montauk Highway residence at about 8:12 p.m. Police say that Procel, who is a laborer, had an active bench warrant for failure to pay a fine for various traffic violations. He was held overnight for morning arraignment.

Charges are merely accusations. Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. A name will only be removed if the accused has been acquitted and can provide a certificate of disposition. Contact the editor to make such a request.
