Stand-up Paddle Against Breast Cancer Next Saturday

Support efforts of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation by participating in a World Paddle Association National Qualifying Race.

Paddle For Pink, a charity stand-up paddleboard race, will be held Saturday at Haven’s Beach in Sag Harbor.

It is a World Paddle Association National Qualifying Race, with all proceeds going toward the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 

Four different levels have been set up to paddle across Noyac Bay: the Elite Class Men and Women’s divisions utilizing 14-foot boards over a 6-mile course; the Stock Class Men's and Women’s divisions using 12- to 6-foot boards over a 6-mile course; the Rec Class Men’s and Women’s divisions using 12- to 20-foot boards over a 6-mile course and the Recreational Class, set up for all ages and families, using all board sizes over a 3-mile course.

The East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad will be on the race site with Jet Skis, paddleboards, and rescue swimmers posted along the racecourse.

The race is set to begin at 8 a.m. Advance registration is $75, and the cost is $90 on the day of the race. Racers who register in advance will receive a J. Crew sun shirt while supplies last.

At 6:30 p.m., a sunset reception dubbed Party For Pink will be held on a private estate overlooking the bluffs of North Haven, at the residence of Lisa and Richard Perry. Celebrity paddlers Gabrielle Reece and Laird Hamilton will attend the party, with live music by Tom Curren and Brendan Fallis. Tickets are $750.

Donations are also accepted. Registrants who donate before Aug. 14 are automatically entered to win the following prizes:

Donors of $500 or more:  A drawing to win a high performance SUP board.

Donors of $2,000 or more: A drawing to win two roundtrip tickets on a domestic Delta flight.

Donors of $5,000 or more:  Receive two tickets to the evening party.
