Southampton Pet of the Week: Tango Once Lived With a Raccoon

Pet Adoption Expo in Riverhead is April 6.

This week, the Southampton Animal Shelter is looking to find a home for Tango, a good-looking, 6 years young, orange tiger, who has been at the shelter since 2010.

According to Donald Bambrick, the animal shelter supervisor, Tango had lived with 50 other cats, two dogs and a tame raccoon before his owner died.

"This sweet, gentleman is in need of a new forever home," said Bambrick, noting that if Tango is not the right pet for you, the Southampton Animal Shelter will be at the Pet Adoption Expo on Saturday, April 6, at the Riverhead Polish Hall, 214 Marcy Avenue. Admission is free and doors open at 11 a.m.

All animals are licensed, up to date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped and have been spayed or neutered, according to Bambrick.

Adoption fees typically range from $40 to $60 for a cat and from $60 to $125 for a dog.
