Parade of Lights Coming Saturday

Southampton Village holiday parade and tree lighting is Dec. 1.

The Southampton Village Parade of Lights and Tree Lighting Ceremony are Saturday, part of a day full of events.

From 2 to 4 p.m., the Southampton Chamber of Commerce offers horse and buggy rides, carolers and refreshments at 76 Main Street.

The parade begins at 4:45 p.m., with firetrucks and more decorated in lights. It runs through the village business district and ends at Agawam Park, where at 5:15 p.m. local ambulance and fire volunteers will light the tree.

The Southampton High School choral group VOSH — "Voices of Southampton" — will beform, with soloist Julie Van Nostrand.

Following the lighting and performance, there will be a reception with Santa Claus and refreshments at the Southampton Cultural Center.

The Southampton Historical Museum will also have an event following the tree lighting. There will be "hearthside cheer" at the Rogers Mansion, with hors d'oeuvres, sweets and an open bar. A piano player will perform  contemporary and traditional holiday songs on a baby grand piano in the Music Room, and the parlors and sitting rooms will be decorated in fresh garland. Antique holiday decorations will decorate multiple trees throughout the mansion. For tickets, call 631-283-2494.
