New Hospital Program Recognized by American Diabetes Association

Southampton Hospital offers diabetes management education.

The  American Diabetes Association has certified Southampton Hospital's "Living with Diabetes" program as a Recognized Diabetes Program through Aug. 7, 2017.

The distinction means the program meets the association's national standards of diabetes self-management education, according to the hospital.

Coordinated by Janet O’Grady, MSRD, CDE, CDN, the hospital's new program offers a free class on the last Wednesday of each month at noon with an overview of the disease, and often a guest speaker. Classes take place at the Southampton Hospital Wellness Institute, on the third floor of the hospital in Southampton Village.

Reservations are available by calling 631-726-8800.

O'Grady is available for individualized counseling by calling 631-726-8357. According to the hospital, most insurance is accepted.
