Mark Your Calendar: Frost Moon Hike in Vineyard Field

The free event will be held on Nov. 17.

The Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt and the South Fork Natural History Museum are hosting a free Frost Moon Hike in Vineyard Field on Sunday.

A frost moon, according to the organizations, is also known as the Full Beaver moon.

"For Native Americans, this was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs," explained the groups.

The leisurely-paced, one-hour hike in Vineyard Field, will be followed by conversation and refreshments in the moonshine.
