Find out how you can help fight lyme disease in Southampton Village.

Tick-borne diseases, according to Southampton Hospital are the fast growing infectious diseases in America — in 2011 alone, 656 cases of Lyme disease were reported in Suffolk County.

That is just one reason why the hospital is teaming up with the Tick Borne Disease Alliance to raise money and awareness about the growing problem.

To accomplish their goal, the hospital and alliance are holding a bike around Southampton Village Bite Back for a Cure event on Aug. 25. that will start at 9:30 a.m. at Rotations Bike Center, 32 Windmill Lane.

The Ride, which is part of a national grassroots campaign, will wind eight-mile bike ride from through the historic village and be led by 24-year-old Lyme sufferer and cyclist John Donnally.

Riders of all ages are encouraged to participate. Registration is $40 per person and $75 per family.
