March 23: School Boards Meet, Author Speaks

See what U.S. Rep. Tim Bishop said during a Q&A in Southampton last night.

Local school boards meet tonight as budget season enters full swing, and a notable author speaks at the local college:

1. Emmy Award winner, New York Times correspondent and award-winning author unravels the mutable mysteries tangled up in love, gender, empowerment and powerlessness, as she reads selections from her real-life-inspired novel, "The Illusionist," in Chancellors Hall at . Sponsored by the MFA in Creative Writing and Literature program, the event begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to all.

2. The will have a special meeting tonight at 7 in the library with the district's budget advisory committee to discuss the proposed 2011-12 school budget. The public is encouraged to attend.

3. The will meet at 7 p.m. for a business meeting, which is open to the public.
