Jan. 9: Piano Concert, a Musical and a Hike

Rogers Memorial Library has a free concert this afternoon, but seating is limited.

There are two events for music lovers in Southampton Village today, and a Southampton hiking group will host a hike in Riverhead:

1. in Southampton Village will host a at 3 p.m. Will Duchon will give an hour-long performance, including Beethoven and Chopin, and an original version of Rachmanioff's Sonata in B-flat minor, Op. 36,  from 1913. Call the library at 631-283-0774 to reserve your seat. A reception will follow.

2.  Catch at today. There will be a matinee at 2:30 p.m.

3. Join the Southampton Trails Preservation Society in Riverhead to . Ken Spadafora will lead the group on a moderately-paced hike through one of the largest undisturbed Pine Parrens areas on Long Island, according to the group's description of the trail. Hikers will meet at the DEC entrance on County Road 63, about a quarter of a mile west of the Riverhead traffic circle.

4. Come back this afternoon for "13 Things You Can Do on Patch," a guide to using Southampton Patch to keep apprised of what's going on in your community, and sharing your news, announcements and events as well.
