Jan. 27: Family Supper, Collegiate Baseball Open House, Congressman Speaks, 'Straight Talk'

There's plenty to do tonight east of the canal.

A winter storm warning from the National Weather Service ended at 6 a.m. The weather service said 8 to 14 inches of snow would fall before then, with even more accumulation in some areas. The Thursday morning commute is expected to be hazardous, so take it easy on the roads or avoid driving if possible.

There are several events that are planned for this evening. By that time, the weather and the roads should both be clear.

2. The Southampton Breakers will begin their fourth season in just a few months. The Southampton Breakers are one of five East End teams that are part of The Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League, which is sanctioned by the NCAA and Major League Baseball with top college players from around the country who have a dream and the dedication to make it to the major leagues. If your family is interested in hosting a player for the season, contact Eileen Shimkus at 516-848-1991 or attend tonight at from 6 to 8 p.m.
