Jan. 13: Girls Night Out, Varsity Basketball and Village Board

Yoga and a wellness forum offered at Southampton Hospital.

The day after a substantial snowstorm, some parts of Southampton Town are still digging out. Bridgehampton and Sagaponack schools will open two hours late, though Southampton and Tuckahoe will open on time. Evening events are still slated to go on as scheduled:

1. The Ed & Phyllis Davis Wellness Institute will host "Girls Night Out" from 6 to 8 p.m. The evening of wellness starts with a yoga class, followed by an open forum called "Meet your Hormones." Dr. Alex Aponte, board certified in anti-aging medicine and family medicine, will lead the discussion and offer tips on maximizing health and slowing the aging process. The cost is $25. Refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is recommended. Call 631-726-8800.

2. The Mariners will host Mattituck in a at 7 p.m. at . Come out to support the home team.

3. The monthly public meeting starts at 6 p.m. at . The agenda includes swearing in the and officers and presentations on a new first responder vehicle for the ambulance corps and a new backhoe for the highway department. Roger Blaugh of the SAVE committee, Southampton Advocates for the Village Environment, will also make a presentation. Discussion items include police fines, village tree lighting, historic and landmark preservation and authorizing the mayor to sign a contract for landmark exhibits for summer 2012.

4. Come back at noon for the latest installment of "." Columnist give a lesson in Historic Designation 101, dispelling myths about restrictions put on a property by designation as a landmark.

5. Look forward to a new feature coming to Southampton Patch in the near future, "100 Things to do in Southampton."
