FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

 

Where/When: Lego Mania! is offered twice a month at the in Bridgehampton, but this particular one on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. will be an effort in replicating the Great Wall of China in honor of the Chinese New Year. Kids 4 and older can make their own masterpieces too, and parents are invited to relax in the library while the kids play.
Why Go:
 The kids get to use their creativity while you get a late afternoon reprieve. 
Pricing:
It's totally free; just be sure to pre-register because it's required. 

Where/When: The  in Bridgehampton will host story time and pizza at their house instead of yours on Friday at 6 p.m. "Where is Home, Little Pip" will be read to your little pips as they gather together in PJs, having a slice of pizza, and making their own penguin craft in honor of "Little Pip" the penguin. 
Why Go:
 Mix up your kids' evening routine, while having a family outing all at once. 
Pricing:
Free for CMEE members, $9 for non-members.

Where/When: At the 's on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, children 7 to 12 years old can learn the German art of paper cutting to create handcrafted Valentine's Day cards. 
Why Go: Kids can hone their skills while parents explore the museum. It's the trip to the museum your kids always wished for.
Pricing:
$5

Where/When:  in Southampton will host a workshop on Saturday at 11 a.m. about the ancient Chinese tradition of the money tree in honor of the Chinese New Year. Kids 4 to 11 can also make their own money tree to ensure good fortune in the new year. 
Why Go: 
The kids can have fun while learning something new. 
Pricing: 
Free, but you have to register in advance.

Where/When: This inaugraul winter festival in Sag Harbor on Saturday includes ice sculpting in two locations; the and in front of  starting at 3 p.m. Stick around until 5:45 p.m., and fireworks will go off over the bay.
Why Go:
It's not everyday you get to see someone pick up a chainsaw and create. The kids can carve out their names in certain sculptures and everyone, including you, will be in awe. Plus, when's the last time you saw fireworks in February?
