Friends of Hampton Library Present $35K Donation

Group raises money to support Bridgehampton's library.

After holding two successful fundraisers this summer — an annual cocktail party in July and a series of Fridays at Five author talks — the Friends of the Hampton Library presented Library Director Kelly Harris with a $35,150 check Tuesday.

"The monies raised by our wonderful, dedicated Friends will be used for a variety of things to improve service to our patrons" Harris said.

Hampton Library, located on Main Street in Bridgehampton, will purchase new laptops for teen patrons and more English as a Second Language learning materials, and also provide the family department with more funds for programs that promote literacy and summer reading, according to a library statement. Additionally, the library will buy iPads for use in adult technology classes.

"The Board of Trustees and the Library staff would like to express their gratitude and give a big Thank you to the Friends of the Library and our community for supporting these events," the library statement reads.

The Friends of the Hampton Library meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month downstairs at the library in the program room.
