For the second year in a row, the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, located in Wainscott, has earned a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the nation's largest independent evaluator of charities for good governance, sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.

“We are honored and delighted to receive this high distinction for the second year in a row from Charity Navigator,” said Lisa McCarthy, President of ARF’s Board of Directors.

According to Ken Berger, President and CEO of Charity Navigator in a letter to ARF “Only 19 percent of charities we rate have received at least two consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons outperforms most other charities in America."

He added. "This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

According to Charity Navigator's formula, which aims to combine sound fiscal management and accountability, ARF received a score of 60.56 out of a possible 70, placing ARF in the "exceptional" category.

ARF is currently the only animal welfare organization on the East End with such a high rating, ARF staffer said Friday.
