Feb. 18: Mariners Enter Playoffs; Levy Announces County Road 39 Expansion

Southampton Town Board meets today and Southampton Cultural Center screens film on civil rights movement.

Friday is full of options, from high school sports to a film screening for Black History Month:

1. Mariners boys basketball hosts Babylon at 6 p.m. at for the first round of playoffs. The Mariners lost to Babylon on Wednesday, their third loss in a row, but are looking to turn things around tonight. .

3. As part of the Black History Month Celebration on the history of the American Civil Rights movement lecture series, a film screening and lecture on how music inspired the Civil Rights movement will be held at 5 p.m. at the . A wine and cheese reception will follow. For more on the cultural center's Black History Month observances, see .

4. County Executive Steve Levy will hold a press conference this afternoon to announce Phase 3 of the County Road 39 revitalization. The phase includes adding another eastbound lane on 39 from North Sea Road to Montauk Highway. Check back later today for coverage of the event.
