Feb 16: Visit the Library for a Talk with a New York Times Journalist

Bridgehampton School Board and Southampton Town Transportation Commission meet today.

Spend your lunch hour with a Times journalist at the library, and maybe attend a school board meeting tonight:

1. Visit the at noon for . He will discuss the important stories over his 30 year career and his insight of the future of newspapers in the digital age. Barron is the author of "Piano: The Making of a Steinway Concert Grant" and the editor of "The New York Times Book of New York."

2. The will meet for a work session at 7 p.m. The session will be preceded by a policy committee meeting at 6 p.m.

3. The meets at 3 p.m. at the lower level meeting room of . The commission is charged with assisting the town board and the department of land management and transportation with the establishment and implementation of transportation plans, priorities, policies, projects and programs.

4. Wednesday is Moms Day on Patch.  It starts at 6 a.m. with "Frugal Family," offering a quintet of deals and discounts being offered by local businesses. At 10 a.m., come back for the "Grab & Go Kids Planner," a weekly guide to events and activities for children and families. At 1 p.m., the , and whoever else would like to join the discussion, considers a parenting question and what the best answer is. Then at 2 p.m., Southampton Patch honors a Whiz Kid  — an outstanding youth in the community who deserves a pat on the back. It's all leading up to The Great Escape at 4 p.m., one great idea for a way to take a break without breaking the bank.
