South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo)- Shorebirds at Shinnecock

Participants must call (631) 537-9735 for reservations and information about meeting place

Walk Leader: Eric Salzman, South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo) Board of Directors

By mid-August, the southward shorebird migration is in full swing, and our local birds – which breed in numbers on the islands and marshes of the bay – will be getting ready to leave. On this walk you’ll be looking for waders, shorebirds, and wetland birds, old and young, on the edges of Shinnecock Bay (and time permitting Moriches Bay), with occasional stops to survey the Atlantic Ocean as well.
