The Bridgehampton Lions Club's pumpkin carving contest scheduled for Monday at 5 p.m. at the Bridgehampton Community House has been completely canceled this year, due to Hurricane Sandy.
It would have marked the 13th annual fundraiser for the Lions Club.
"Since Tuesday will still be stormy and Wednesday is Halloween we will just have to skip this unlucky 13th year of the event, spooky!" states the Lions club website.
"Sorry everyone, we held out as long as we could but the weather report just got worse so we decided to cancel a little in advance," the website states. "We assume most would carve today and wanted to stop you before you went too far. If it’s too late, you have a great pumpkin carving for Halloween!"
The website states that sponsors will receive letters soon.
