April 26: Village To Adopt Bag Ban, Town Holds Planned Development District Hearing

Dr. Joseph Volpe will talk on nurturing a child's Social IQ.

The sun will rise at 5:55 a.m. and set at 7:41 p.m.

The Southampton village board and town board both meet this evening and the Special Education Parent Teacher Association will offer a free class at the same time.

1. East End SEPTA will hold a workshop on the Social IQ, which includes covering how to develop meaningful relationships, empathy skills, reading skills and strategies for parents and educators to nurture a child's Social IQ. Dr. Joseph Volpe, a psychologist and clinical director of East End Psychological Services, will be the guest speaker. The talk begins at 7 p.m. at , but there will be a meet and greet for parents at 6:30 p.m.

2. The is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. at village hall for a work session, where the board is on plastic shopping and take-out bags in the village.

3. The will meet at 6 p.m. at town hall for a public meeting. Residents are invited to turn out for the fifth and likely final public hearing on.

4. Come back at 10 a.m. to meet this week's "Whiz Kids," the National Junior Honor Society at Southampton Intermediate School, and then again at 2 p.m. for this week's "Faces of Southampton" featured person, Jim O'Hagan.

5. Southampton Town Youth Bureau's seventh is under way. This year's theme is "Our Town." The contest is open to middle school and high school students. The deadline for entries is May 20. Call 631-702-2421 or email tkolsin@southamptontownny.gov for more information.
