April 13: LB Thompson Speaks, Fleming Declares Candidacy

The Bridgehampton School Board will meet tonight.

The sun will rise at 6:14 a.m. today and set at 7:27 p.m.

Wednesday is a somber day for friends of the late Manuel Cunha Jr., as a visitation will be held today at a Sag Harbor funeral home. Cuhna and passenger Thomas Wheeler died in a  in Sag Harbor on Saturday.

1. 's MFA in Creative Writing and Literature program will host a for the "Writers Speak" series. Thompson's work has been called "wild and strange and brilliant ... like being in the presence of the oracle." Find enlightenment in the illuminating poems of the Whiting Award winner, whose most recent manuscript is The Dark Skirt of the Universe.

2. The will meet at 7 p.m. for a business meeting. The meeting is open to the public.

3. Southampton Town Councilwoman Bridget Fleming, a Sag Harbor attorney, will that she is running for reelection in November. She will make her announcement at 6:30 p.m. at her campaign headquarters, 47 Jobs Ln in Southampton Village.

4. Wondering what to do with the kids when they are off school next week? Come back at 2 p.m. for "Five Places To Send Your Kids for Spring Break," a list of local day camps and overnight camps for kids of all ages.

5. of East Hampton will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home at 91 Hampton St in Sag Harbor. Cuhna, a carpenter and Pierson High School graduate, was a lifetime resident of Sag Harbor, but spent the last five years living in East Hampton. He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1971 to 1975. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, also at Yardley and Pino, followed by burial at St. Andrew Cemetery in Sag Harbor.
