#97 - Go Bird Watching at Munn Point

Grab your binoculars and head to this Southampton Village destination.

If you fancy yourself an amateur ornithologist, or you have just always been curious about the birdwatching hobby, a great destination for you is Munn Point on Southampton Village's Meadow Lane.

A boardwalk brings birders, or anyone who just wants to appreciate the view, out over Shinnecock Bay. An osprey nests on a manmade platform near the boardwalk, but several other species can also be spotted.

Across the water is the southern tip of the . And across Meadow Lane from Munn Point is the famed mansion known as "Ocean Castle."

Munn Point is named for Orson D. Munn, a Southampton Village trustee from 1967 to 1985. The boardwalk includes benches

A Southampton Village or Southampton Town beach parking permit is required to leave a car at the Munn Point parking spaces between the Friday before Memorial Day and the middle of September. The rest of the year, it's free.
