#84 - Catch a Chamber Music Festival Performance

Each summer, Bridgehampton becomes home to a chamber music 'extraordinaire.'

Seeking the perfect summertime setting in which to sample chamber music performed by world-renowned artists? Then get ready to experience the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, where the musical offerings range from the classical to the cutting edge.

Founded in 1984 by Marya Martin, an eminent flutist, and her husband, Ken Davidson, this now annual festival began with just two concerts. The Festival now features four weeks of musical delights each summer.

The 2011 Festival, which began July 28, is now in its third week. Brooklyn Rider, an innovative string quartet equally at ease interpreting classics or their own creations, performed Thursday at the .

On Friday, the Wm. Bryan Little Concert at the Channing Sculpture Garden will open at 6 p.m. with a wine tasting and appetizers. The evening continues with a concert at 7 p.m. entitled "Gypsy Traveler," promising an intriguing mixture of gypsy, jazz and folk melodies. Week Three rounds out with a concert Sunday entitled "Untold Pleasures," which will feature Martin, the festival's co-founder and artistic director.

Week Four of the festival continues Aug. 18 and 20 and culminates in the "Joyous Finale" on Aug. 21. For full details of programs for all dates and featured artists visit the festival's website at bcmf.org/season.
